Cardiac CT
Coronary CT angiography, pre-TAVI planning and structural heart imaging with standardised protocols.

Consultant Cardiovascular Radiologist, physician leader, and clinician trained in data science.
I work where cardiac imaging, healthcare leadership and technology meet. I have built cardiac CT and MRI services, led radiology departments and a multi-hospital radiology council, trained radiologists, and now apply formal training in data science to how imaging is reported and delivered.
Introduction
My work starts with the images, but it rarely ends there.
I trained in radiology in Germany and in non-invasive cardiac imaging in Switzerland, and cardiac CT and MRI remain the core of my clinical practice in Abu Dhabi. A strong imaging service depends as much on protocols, trained technologists and good reporting as on the scanner, and that shaped the roles that followed: building cardiac imaging services, moving departments to subspecialty models, chairing a system-wide radiology council, and leading residency training to ACGME accreditation.
An MBA and a certification in medical quality gave that work a management foundation. A master’s in data science and AI connects it to technology: I use it to make reporting clearer and more consistent, and to judge where AI genuinely helps clinical care.
Areas of expertise
Coronary CT angiography, pre-TAVI planning and structural heart imaging with standardised protocols.
Stress perfusion, cardiomyopathy, valvular and congenital heart disease, and myocardial strain.
Cardiac imaging programmes from protocols to technologist training, and a department built at a new hospital.
Department and system-level leadership: strategy, subspecialty models, capital planning and governance.
Formal training, biomedical AI research, and practical tools for structured reporting and report quality.
Residency leadership through ACGME accreditation, Arab Board examining, and cardiac imaging workshops.
Selected work
A selection of outcomes, not a list of responsibilities. The full record is in the CV.
Established cardiac CT and MRI services across SEHA hospitals, including technologist training and standardised protocols.
SEHA hospitalsAs founding chair, built Clinical Imaging at a newly opened tertiary hospital, and later led the transition of imaging services from Mayo Clinic to SSMC.
Sheikh Shakhbout Medical CityChaired the SEHA Radiology Council, aligning protocols, quality frameworks and performance standards across multiple hospitals.
SEHA Radiology CouncilMoved radiology services at two major Abu Dhabi hospitals from a modality-based to a subspecialty-based model.
SKMC and SSMCRestructured the radiology residency curriculum and assessment framework, and secured ACGME accreditation.
Sheikh Khalifa Medical CityMSc in Data Science and AI with distinction, co-authorship of the BiMediX2 biomedical AI model, and the Radiology.ae reporting tools.
University of London · Radiology.aeProfessional journey
Diagnostic and interventional radiology training in Germany; German Board of Radiology.
Cardiac imaging fellowship in Basel; European Board of Cardiovascular Radiology.
Cardiac CT and MRI programmes in Abu Dhabi; residency programme director at SKMC.
Chair of radiology at SKMC, founding chair at SSMC, and chair of the SEHA Radiology Council.
Consultant practice at SSMC, an MSc in Data Science and AI, and the Radiology.ae tools.
Cardiovascular imaging
Cardiac CT and MRI are most useful when they answer the clinical question the first time.
My practice at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City covers the full range of non-invasive cardiac imaging. Much of my work has gone into making it repeatable: optimised protocols, trained teams, and structured reports that referring physicians can act on.
European Board of Cardiovascular Radiology · Fellow, Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance · SCMR Level III and EuroCMR Level 3 · Fellowship in cardiac SPECT/CT/PET and hybrid imaging, University Hospital Zurich.
Leadership and healthcare management
Leadership in radiology is about the service, not the scanner.
I have led at three levels: a department, a newly opened hospital, and a network of hospitals, building structures that keep working after the launch. That experience is supported by an MBA and certification in medical quality.
Departmental strategy, subspecialty integration and workflow redesign in tertiary hospitals.
Council leadership across SEHA hospitals: shared protocols, quality frameworks, policy implementation and reporting transparency.
Capital equipment planning, business cases, vendor negotiation, staffing models and resource allocation.
Governance frameworks aligned with institutional standards; residency design, faculty development and board examination.
AI, data science and digital health
Clinical AI needs people who understand both the medicine and the methods. Formal training lets me evaluate, design and build rather than simply adopt.
Completed at the University of London with distinction, adding formal training in data science and machine learning to clinical radiology.
Co-author of BiMediX2, a bio-medical expert large multimodal model for diverse medical modalities, bringing a clinical imaging perspective to model development.
Radiology.ae offers structured reporting and decision support, including a CMR report builder, CAD-RADS 2.0 and a report quality check for hedging and imprecise language.
The radiology report is where imaging becomes a clinical decision. Making reports clearer, more structured and more measurable is where data science can help patients soonest.
